Custom Coffee Table

Have you ever wondered why it’s called a ‘coffee table’? Or, for that matter, a ‘tea table’? I know people who don’t even drink coffee. Well, if you’re getting a custom coffee table made, you can call it whatever you want! Here are some design tips and my top picks to consider before starting your project.

Reclaimed Coffee Table

First up, we have the rustic reclaimed coffee table. I am always a fan of this choice. Century-old reclaimed wood, saturated with character—what’s not to like? Specifically, we pulled this lumber from a New England antique farmhouse built in the early 1800s in Wilton, Connecticut. Consequently, this style design introduces that old-world wood touch and a rustic flair to the space. Often, this custom coffee table is exactly what people are looking for. Furthermore, in terms of workability, we can make custom round coffee tables, square coffee tables, even ovular-shaped coffee tables.

Live Edge Coffee Table

Second custom coffee table pick is a live edge option. The beauty of the live edge is that no piece will ever be the same. Mother Nature creates these beautiful works of art once! However, I am happy to say we have a wide selection of unique live edge slabs to pick from at our workshop in Orange County, roughly one hour away from New York City. If you decide to commission us for a custom coffee table, I highly recommend making the trip to see the slabs in person.

PRO TIP: If you have toddlers running around the house, we are more than happy to toddler-proof your coffee table and round off the corners and find slabs with mild live edges.

Resin Coffee Table

Last but not least, the custom coffee table pictured is a resin coffee table. Without question, resin tables are highly customizable. Specifically, in the above picture, you will see a resin coffee table we made with emerald green resin and an underwater olive wood burl from the Mediterranean Sea! Talk about unique… Certainly, this combination always presents a one-of-a-kind custom design that can tie together any room. Moreover, my personal recommendation when going with a custom resin coffee table is to choose a bold accent color, such as greens, blues, oranges, etc., to really make a room pop and get the wow factor every time you walk in.
