The Barn door has slid… It’s way into everyone’s homes over the past few years. The rustic charm gives the spaces a cozy feel. However, is it becoming too much? Is this trend dying? Absolutely, not; however, here is what you need to know before you decide to incorporate this element into your space. Our team has designed and skillfully crafted hundreds if not thousands of barn doors over the years and we would like to share with you our expert opinion!
ABSOLULTELY DO NOT DO THIS…

I repeat you absolutely do not want to purchase a plain old cookie cutter barn door from everyone’s favorite online retailer. These doors although competitively priced lack all kinds of character and will end up making your house look cheap. This trend is for sure over done and on its way out. How should you incorporate this feature? Keep on reading for these innovative custom solutions.
Original but Truly One of a Kind

A few years ago, we crafted this custom barn door for a client in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, showcasing the rich history and timeless beauty of weathered barn siding. The authentic, 200+ year-old reclaimed hemlock, pulled from a New England antique farmhouse built in the early 1800s, adds a unique and one-of-a-kind touch to the door. Thus, it perfectly exemplifies both craftsmanship and history.
The Barn Door Reimagined

This was a custom build that we made for a client in Eastchester, New York. The barn door, reimagined, consists of several solid live edge slabs of reclaimed pine. Each slab was hand-selected by our master carpenters at our workshop in Goshen, New York, and then installed on-site, resulting in a truly unique custom closet. When it comes to the reimagined barn door, the sky is truly the limit. We work with a wide variety of natural live edge slabs, including black walnut, acacia, oak, maple, cherry, and much more…
The Perfect Synergy Steel & Wood

It is often recognized that both steel and wood make the perfect combination. Whether you’re looking for a clean, modern look or a more industrial aesthetic, you cannot go wrong with this pairing. This, for example, was a custom barn door we created for a client in Greenwich, Connecticut. Here, you can see the combination of weathered reclaimed barn siding and salvaged corrugated steel. Moreover, with each and every custom barn door project that we take on, we work closely as a team to carefully handpick a wide variety of materials, ensuring that the door tells its own unique story.
The Fusion of Transparency Glass & Wood

The combination of the warmth of the wood with the transparency and light-bringing qualities of the glass creates a stellar barn door. This look is my personal favorite. We completed this barn door project for a restaurant in Rockefeller Plaza in downtown Manhattan. We constructed the door using flawless, handpicked white oak and frosted glass. The craftsmanship that went into this door is truly exceptional. Fortunately, we have a team of master carpenters with decades of experience to ensure every detail was perfect.
