12 Foot Long Resin Dining Table!

Posted on January 29, 2025

You may be wondering how many people you can seat at a 12 foot long dining table. Well, the answer is 14. How do we come to this number? We typically account for roughly 2 feet per chair and that will give plenty of space to sit around the table with a total of 6 chairs on each side and 2 chairs on the ends. This custom straight edge maple double river table we built a few years ago was 50″ wide allowing for an additional 2 chairs to fit at the ends! With open floor plans becoming the norm for renovations and new constructions we have been building more and more 12 foot long dining tables. Furniture shopping can become a nightmare for dining tables of these sizes. We are able to simplify the process with our team of design experts, wide selection of materials to choose from and our master builders with decades of experience.

From Vision to Design

For this build, our client wanted not only a massive table but a one of a kind statement piece to complement their house. Working with our table design expert, Tim at our Rye Showroom, Tim guided the client to choose a double river table in combination with steel legs. A bold piece for a modern house. After seeing the space where the table will go, we decided on going with maple. Maple is a hardwood that we typically leave natural, and let the warm light tones of the wood speak for itself. To bring contrast to the piece we went with a two pour double river with our base pour being a rich midnight blue and clear top pour on top to highlight the the natural live edges of the slabs and bring depth to the table. With the top being the true focal point of the dining table we decided to go with simple and functional black steel legs.

On the Build

Now the hard part… Making a 12 foot long dining table! With the design finalized, our clients decided to make the trip to our Workshop where all the magic happens. Our team of master carpenters alongside the client selected three perfect 12 foot long maple slabs with some wild live edges. After selecting the slabs, we kiln dried them to remove moisture and prevent warping. Next, we ripped and processed the slabs in preparation for finishing. Now, for the fun part! Almost everyone knows how these resin tables are made. If you don’t, check out this one we did right HERE. Once the resin cured, the wood fused seamlessly with the resin. We then planned the surface to create a smooth finish and applied our water resistant, stain resistant coating. As a result, the final product is a unique, handcrafted table that will last a lifetime for our clients!
